Peter S. Miller
President
Peter founded CCD in 2009. Since partnering with the Carlino Family, the company has developed or invested in projects across a variety of asset classes but primarily focused on ground-up tenant driven projects with time honored tenants such as Wegman’s, Giant Food, Shop Rite, Aldi, and Car Max. He combines a diverse investment background with strong relationships inside and outside the development community enabling CCD to grow not only through ground-up retail development but through residential, office and other non-operating real estate opportunities.
Prior to creating CCD, Peter worked for sixteen years as a Principal with CMS Companies.
Peter’s been a Board Member of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Philadelphia University, St. John Vinney, and the Real Estate Committee of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia among other community activities.
Peter W. Carlino
Co-Managing Partner
Upon graduating from Lehigh University in 1998, Peter started his career in commercial real estate at Grubb & Ellis New York. In his first year at Grubb, Peter was selected as the National Rookie of the year and qualified for the Circle of Excellence, a distinction reserved for the firm’s top performers. In 2002 Peter graduated from New York University with a masters in real estate and then began the next chapter in his career at Carlino Development Group, where he was President from 2006-2015. Since 2003, Peter has been involved in over 40 distinct real estate development investments, totaling over 2 million square feet.
Peter lives in Berks County with his wife Alissa and their three children.
Varsha Thakarar joined Carlino Commercial Development in the spring of 2023. Previously, Varsha worked as a Senior Asset Manager at GE Real Estate.
Varsha is highly experienced in all aspects of accounting, finance and asset management of commercial real estate across all asset classes – offices, shopping centers, hotels, golf courses, residential and mobile home parks and from start up construction to stabilized properties. She is experienced in underwriting, cash flow valuation, restructures and disposition of both debt and equity investments.
Varsha graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is an inactive PA CPA.
Varsha enjoys traveling, cooking, walking, yoga, and Zumba.
Ben Lusch
Vice President Construction and Development
Ben joined Carlino Commercial Development in 2020 with 18 years of real estate construction experience across various asset classes. At CCD Ben is responsible for preparing and administering projects budgets, design coordination, construction and oversight of third party project management. Ben is also very involved in leasing of tenant build outs for office space and retail properties.
Prior to joining CCD Ben most recently managed multifamily housing projects from the ground up. He built over 800 apartments valued at $250 million from the ground up including design, construction and leasing. In addition, 10 years as a construction manager gave Ben experience working in health care, commercial and residential projects throughout the greater Philadelphia metro area.
Ben is a devoted father of 4 very active children spending evenings and weekends at practices and games.
Ben grew up in Philadelphia and returned after earning a B.A. in Business Management and Economics at Gettysburg College and an M.S. from Johns Hopkins University, Carey Business School.
Joe joined Carlino Commercial Development in April of 2023. Responding to tenant issues as needed but also working diligently to maintain and keep improving the tenant experience in both retail and office spaces. Joe’s attention to detail and willingness to help are very valuable assets and we are excited to welcome Joe to the CCD team!
Joe loves the outdoors and spends his free time with girlfriend Juliah enjoying hiking, boating and photography.
Kim Paszek
Property Manager & Executive Assistant
Katherine “Kim” Paszek is the Property Manager and Executive Assistant responsible for assisting our management team with a broad range of operational and administrative tasks that advance our short and long term goals. Her responsibilities include acting as liaison with tenants, vendors, lawyers, coordinating property management, accounts payable, accounts receivables, and meeting and travel schedules and ensuring the well being of the organization.
Kim has worked for many years in the metals industry prior to joining CCD in 2021. She has coordinated meetings all over the world paying attention to the smallest details to ensure the corporate brand is communicated accurately. Kim’s calm, professional nature is an asset working in the dynamic nature of the real estate business.
In her free time Kim enjoys golf, hiking, and music. She loves to travel and visit new places and enjoy the local food. Her favorite past time of course, is spending time with her family.
